MANUFACTURING MANAGER

Location:        Xtera UK

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to manage the manufacturing of Xtera designed products for subsea communications projects at various locations across the globe. This includes management of subcontracted supply chains, engineering, manufacturing and test & acceptance with the objective of delivering multiple manufacturing projects on time and on budget.

Another key element of the role is being the interface between Xtera, manufacturers, suppliers, and subcontractors. Keeping the Xtera wider team up to date with all aspects of various projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To drive or perform the following aspects of project management:

  • Manufacturing planning
    • Work with External Manufacturing Solutions (EMS) partners on planning and directing an efficient layout of equipment and flow of materials
    • Ensure that manufacturing performance, volume and quality goals are met by utilizing efficient methods and appropriate staffing levels
    • Improve build & test processes to streamline the manufacture of current product lines
    • Initiate and drive cost reduction initiatives
  • Project delivery
    • Full ownership and accountability for all production delivery targets and budgets during project builds
    • To work with, and drive, all supporting departments to ensure production targets are achieved
    • Recruitment of contractors and other staff, assigning responsibilities
    • Supervise the work of subcontractors and liaise with their project managers
    • Ensure the quality of build and test processes and associated documentation to meet customer expectations.
  • Reporting – internally and externally
    • Establish and maintain regular reporting by written and regular conference calls
    • Customer reports, if required for specific technical or operational reasons
    • Interface for all formal communication with Xtera and EMS partners
  • Supply Chain
    • Collaborate with engineering to resolve any issues resulting in the delay of product delivery
    • Liaise with internal and external supply chain management teams for people resource, equipment, materials
    • Work with Xtera’s Supply Chain team to address and mitigate schedule risks, e.g. with regards to component supply
  • General
    • Management of external consultants and subcontractors
    • Maintain quality records g. test procedures, test results.
    • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
    • Identify costs of ongoing activities and ensure that these are compared with the budget

 

REQUIREMENTS
  • Several years’ experience in manufacturing and manufacturing management, preferably in high tech/high reliability industries
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
  • Proven communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities and adaptability
  • Full driving license and willingness to travel worldwide
